Do you know someone who is excellent in their field?  Early on they learned to prioritize and know where to give their energy permission to bloom.  Priorities are taught or maybe caught from our parents.   If they take good care of their health, chances are it will be important to you too.   If they were religious, hopefully you shared their values.  If they believed in family time, then you probably like to do the same thing.  If education or training in a specific field was important to them, you most likely were encouraged to do the same.

Or maybe you were allowed to just do your own thing and didn’t have their mentoring.  It may have come from a teacher, preacher, or professional.  Either way, I bet you do have priorities to propel you forward.file-oct-22-1-10-29-pm

I am still one of those people who work first and play last.   Whether that is good or bad, it is my way of prioritizing.   It makes me schedule and have a reward at the end of the projects at hand.   I believe in following through with commitments or letting people know in advance of the changes I need to make.  There are times when playing or going out are the priority

I just purchased new glasses and it spurred me on to take care of other priorities as well.  The dog needed her nails trimmed,  check book needed balancing, blogs needed writing, and the water fall needed to be closed for the year.  These were just a few.

Priorities keep us focused on the most essential things to get done.   They also give us a purpose.   And isn’t it wonderful that we can do all of these things?   I think so!

There are places in the world where people don’t own their own property.   They aren’t fortunate to have money to put into a checkbook.   Maybe they don’t even have the opportunity to have glasses, yet alone update them.   Their priorities might be as essential as getting food for the day or find fresh water.  We must be grateful for the chores we have and the opportunities to do them.   We gain self esteem and a feeling of accomplishment by doing our best.

I think often of Mother Teresa of Calcutta who was so giving with her time and mercy to help the sick and dying.   What a blessing she was to so many people!  That was one BIG PRIORITY INDEED.  It may be far from what you or I do, but we are gifted and called to do other things well.  No gift is to go unused.

How about you?  Are you good about following through with work?  Do your beds get made?   Are you cars maintained for safety?   Are you family members encouraged to be responsible?   Do you continue to learn?   Do you find it fun to attend cultural arts in your community?   Please feel free to share some of your priorities with me.
